Beyond our regular meetings, OVRGHS has a variety of social events and activities that our members actively organize and participate in - from geology and/or quarry tours in the fall, to our regular photo competitions and seed exchange in the winter, and botanical walks, open gardens, bus trips, and workshops in the spring and summer. Come and have fun with us!

Jan 6, 2024 - OVRGHS Seed Exchange at St. Mark's Anglican Church
March 2, 2024 - Ottawa Seedy Saturday at the Emmanuel United church, 691 Smyth Rd.
​This event is organized by Just Food. OVRGHS is not organizing this event but we are participating with seeds from both our seed exchange and the NARGS seed exchange, items of general interest, books and information. To volunteer, contact Dorothy Tol at d.tol@rogers.com.

​​​​Normally we organize a coach trip in the April/May timeframe in partnership with the Ottawa Horticultural Society. Planning for this event has not yet resumed.
May 12, 2024 - Friends of the Farm Plant Sale
We will be selling plants which will include some Alpines and other plants donated by members
June 1, 2024 - Trough Workshop at Judy Wall's house near Perth
2024 - Garden Tours - Two members opened their gardens to us to visit. The first tour was Brian Carson's on June 12th & the second tour was of Leo Gregory's garden on June 27th.

Nov-December 2020 - Seed Exchange Seed Sorting
​Normally members would be invited to meet at the Thomas Neatby Building at 1 pm to sort and package the donated seeds and package them up. Seeds would then be for sale this day to members, only (48 packets for $5). However this year due to the Covid pandemic we are going this all by mail instead - see details on the SEEDEX page.
Even if you don't grow from seed, don't be shy to come - it’s relaxed, fun and educational. Please bring some goodies to share.
